Energy Analysis of a Wind-Hydrogen System

The Haeolus project publishes today another of its key deliverables, Energy Analysis of the Raggovidda Integrated System.

The study was authored by Iker Marino and Maider Santos of Tecnalia (Spain), and focuses on the Raggovidda wind park and its integration with hydrogen production; the approach will be generalised in later reports in the coming years of the project.

The report specifically analyses the two use cases of optimal hydrogen production and production congestion management. The resulting hydrogen cost, in the range 4-6 €/kg, is competitive with the current state of the art.

More income can be generated by providing grid services such as frequency regulation support; these will be investigated further in reports on wind-hydrogen systems due by the end of 2019.
